I love creating things with my sewing machines.  I try to sew at least a little each day whether for myself or someone else.  I make much of my own clothing and most of the window treatments in my home.  Two to three times a year I spend a few days in Jacksonville (FL) helping my daughter as she makes costumes for several local theaters.  I also create quilted handbags, table runners and the occasional wall hanging, but my favorite projects are quilting and teaching.  During the worst of the pandemic, I made face masks.  I started by volunteering to make masks for our local hospital, then made several for family and friends, then designed and printed yet more. You can find a display of my masks here.

I make quilts in a variety of sizes from small baby quilts or large enough for a king size bed and everything must pass my own stringent quality checks before it’s released.  My specialty, is memory quilts which can be either T-shirt quilts, Photo quilts (yes, you can print on fabric), or a combination of both.  One dearest to my heart is a family handprint quilt, a gift for my mother’s 99th birthday.

The pandemic changed life for all of us, including how and where we work, study, shop, and socialize. During better times, I hosted small sewing workshops for area teens/pre-teens during the summer. They started with one of the simple age appropriate projects from my collection but soon advanced to purchased patterns. Space is limited so I can’t accommodate more than 2 to 3 girls at a time, but they have fun learning and sewing with their friends while having fun. Covid is still with us but not as prevalent as it once was, so I’ll be starting the workshops back up again for summer 2024. Further information on some of our projects is available on our Sew Kids, Workshop page.
